Lights, Camera, Headshots!

Enjoy some imagery from my latest session. The beautiful young lady also happens to be my roommate and the session was a blast from start to finish!! In addition to her headshots we also got some character portraits and a beautiful fine art style image of her wearing a special choker given to her by one of the elders in her town.

Thanks so much Mary for being awesome in front of the camera.

This past week I had the opportunity to photograph the EP Release party for an up-and-coming LA band--Statues of Cats.

The release dropped at House Of Blues on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.

Their music should be available later this week on Itunes and I would highly recommend you check it out!

While you're waiting for their singles to drop, however, why not check out some photography from their release party!

A Fond Farewell!

Last night was the final night of the 2013 LA Shorts Film Festival. Be sure to check out their Official Facebook Page and follow them on Twitter! It was a wonderful week and I would

recommend to everyone to come out and see it in 2014! A big thanks needs to go out to Dominick who put so many hours into putting the screenings together, to Velvet

who spent countless hour uploading photos, tagging photos and making sure the face of the festival was a great one, and to Bob, without whom the festival would not take place.

It was wonderful getting to know each of you this past week!

I want to take this time to send out a HUGE thank you to all the filmmakers who took the time to create the shorts and who were willing to share their projects with the world.
Art is not easy, making art is hard enough but putting your art out for others to see, critique, and possibly destroy is 10x harder so filmmakers "thank you!"
In the coming week I will be contacting those of you from whom I got a business card. Since I was unable to get cards from all of you talented filmmakers
I would appreciate if you would take a moment to send your info through my comments and questions page. That way I can start building my network and hopefully work with you in the future.
If you are ever shooting a project in LA and are in need of a Stills Photographer please consider me for the position and view some of my onset work on my filmbooks pages.
If you are an actor please consider me for your next set of headshots
Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to capture your special memories.  I would be honored to work with any one of  you and hope to do so soon!

Enjoy some of my favorite photos from the last few days of the festival:

Half way through

So far the LA Shorts Festival has been AMAZING!!! I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet so many talented filmmakers along with many of their crews and cast.

Tonight I will once again be photographing arrivals and events so if you are in the area be sure to check it out. All films screen at the Laemmle NoHo7 in North Hollywood CA.

Check out some photos from the past few days!

La Shorts Film Festival

Had the opportunity to photograph opening night of the 17th Annual LA Shorts Film Festival on September 5th. The main guests for the night were Ralph Macchio better known as Daniel LaRusso from the original Karate Kid along with his Dancing With the Stars partner Karina Smirnoff.

Mr. Macchio directed the short "Across Grace Alley" in which Ms. Smirnoff was an actress.

Check out a few of the photos from the night's festivities and be sure to like LA Shorts Fest on Facebook, follow them on Twitter at @LAshortsfest and come see a spectacual series of short films!

Two Weeks

Today will mark two weeks since I landed in LA. (Actually since I landed at 8:30 at night it's more like tomorrow...) Since that time I have successfully worked my first film set, booked a promotional shoot for a band about to drop their EP and will be working on a documentary style shoot this weekend.

Overall I would say LA is treating me quite well, and I in turn am taking any and all opportunities thus far to come my way. The Loss of Innocence (the film set I worked) is a beautiful short film about the harsh realities that come when a child must grow up for the first time. It includes a spectacular cast and the crew (HUGE thanks to Robert Burdsall for bringing me on the project) I had the opportunity to work with made me excited for everything LA has in store.

I will be working with Statues of Cats in the coming weeks to finalize their EP packaging  and to shoot the promotional photography they will use to make it to the next stage in their career. David, Dan, Johnny & Anthony - so excited to be working with you!

This weekend I will be traveling to Pasadena CA for a documentary shoot about the meditative archery art of Kyudo. I am excited to learn something new both in that I will be shooting some of the video footage, and in that I know nothing about Kyudo. I am eager to learn something new! Thanks to Andrew Bush for bringing me on!

And so ends my first two weeks in LA.

Photos on the boat

Had a wonderful senior portrait shoot this week with a beautiful young lady named Anna. We shot all of her pictures at Lake Mohawk and had a blast going out on their boat. Nothing quite like long hair in the wind. I will be the first to admit that while I had everything to do with the proper lighting and exposure the wind picture was only part me. I must give a huge thanks to the wind for blowing just right. It's all about capturing the moment and that moment worked! My favorite picture, however, of the whole day is the shot of her looking up on the dock in the white tank top. There is just something about that shot which screams "thee shot!" Thanks again Anna for a great shoot, a wonderful boat ride and the chance to give you some forever memories.
